A Heart of Thanksgiving

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” – Psalm 100:4

Thanksgiving is more than a holiday; it’s a holy habit. As Christians, we are called to live lives filled with gratitude, not just on the fourth Thursday of November but every day. This Thanksgiving, let us pause and reflect on the goodness of God and how His faithfulness sustains us through every season of life.

The first Thanksgiving in America was a moment of gratitude for survival and provision after a harsh year. Similarly, our hearts should overflow with thankfulness for God’s provision, even in difficult times. Whether we are surrounded by loved ones at a bountiful table or experiencing a quieter season, God’s blessings are still present, giving us every reason to give thanks.

When we reflect on what God has done, our gratitude grows. Consider these three reasons to give thanks this Thanksgiving:

1. God’s Unchanging Character – In a world that constantly shifts, God remains the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). His love for us is steadfast and unwavering.

2. God’s Provision – Every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord (James 1:17). He meets our needs, often in ways we don’t expect or understand.

3. God’s Redemption – Above all, we are thankful for the salvation offered through Jesus Christ. Because of His sacrifice, we have eternal hope and a relationship with the Father.

As you gather with family and friends this Thanksgiving, take time to express your gratitude out loud. Share stories of God’s goodness and thank Him for His countless blessings. Gratitude is contagious, and it has the power to transform hearts and relationships.

• What are three specific things you are thankful for this Thanksgiving?

• How can you make gratitude a daily practice, not just a holiday tradition?

• Is there someone in your life who needs to hear a word of encouragement or thanks from you?

Lord, we come before You with thankful hearts this Thanksgiving. Thank You for Your love, Your provision, and Your unchanging faithfulness. As we reflect on Your goodness, may our gratitude bring You glory. Teach us to carry the spirit of Thanksgiving into our daily lives, that we may honor You in all we say and do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thankful for you,

PJ
