“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.””

Joshua 1:9

Paralyzed with fear. This is something I struggle with from time to time. I know God is with me and for me, but at times I am gripped with fear. It usually happens in crowds or when I’m not in control of a situation and all of a sudden I am paralyzed with fear. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever experienced and it’s really difficult to explain. When these times happen I have to really find something to ground myself. Something that is a certainty, like the love of God. I will speak to myself and say things like “If God sent Jesus to die for me, He will no doubt be with me in this time of fear”. I will pick one thing to focus on and start quoting Bible verses to myself. I also have a go-to song from the Winans I’ll sing. It may take a while to get past the fear, but God has never failed me yet and He won’t! 

So, if you are someone that deals with fear and discouragement, fight it with everything in you. If you are a child of God then you have Holy Spirit to help you fight and He will see you through.
