Finding Confidence in God’s Approval
“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” – Galatians 1:10
In our lives, we often find ourselves yearning for acceptance and approval from others. We may modify our behavior, change our opinions, or suppress our true beliefs to avoid judgment or criticism. The desire to be validated by others is natural, but as followers of Christ, our ultimate source of validation is not in the opinions of people, but in the unwavering love and acceptance of God.
Paul, the Apostle, understood this well. As he preached the gospel, he faced criticism and rejection. But he knew his purpose was not to please people; it was to honor God. When we seek the validation of others, we allow our self-worth to be influenced by fluctuating opinions and temporary praises. But God’s view of us is eternal, steadfast, and unchanging. His validation is rooted in our identity as His beloved children, bought with the blood of Jesus.
Our worth in God’s eyes is not based on our performance, popularity, or achievements. It is based solely on His grace. In Christ, we are enough, we are loved, and we are complete. When we embrace this truth, we no longer feel the need to mold ourselves into someone we’re not. Instead, we find freedom in God’s approval and rest in His affirmation.
Are there areas in your life where you feel pressured to seek others’ approval? What would it look like to release these concerns to God and trust in His validation alone? Remember, when you walk in the truth of who you are in Christ, you reflect His love more powerfully than when you strive to please people.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your perfect love that affirms and completes me. Help me to release the need for validation from others and to rest in the truth of who You say I am. Teach me to find my confidence in You alone and to live as a faithful servant of Christ. May my life be a testimony to Your grace, free from the pressures of worldly approval. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Love you,
PJ
