Forgiveness and Freedom

Scripture:

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” – Colossians 3:13

Reflection:

Forgiveness is a command that brings freedom. When we forgive, we release the weight of resentment and bitterness, making room for God’s healing and peace. Colossians 3:13 reminds us to forgive as the Lord forgave us—freely, fully, and unconditionally.

Jesus set the ultimate example of forgiveness on the cross when He prayed for those who crucified Him, saying, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). His forgiveness was not based on the worthiness of the offender but on His love and obedience to the Father.

Forgiveness does not mean excusing wrong behavior or ignoring the hurt. Instead, it’s entrusting justice to God and choosing to let go of the offense. When we forgive, we reflect Christ’s character and experience the freedom that comes from living in His grace.

Challenge:

Reflect on someone you may need to forgive. Pray for God to soften your heart and to help you release any bitterness or resentment you may be holding.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for forgiving me completely and unconditionally through Jesus. Help me to forgive others as You have forgiven me. Teach me to release bitterness and to walk in the freedom of Your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Love you,

PJ
