“Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.”

Giving is a beautiful picture of who Jesus is. He gave everything for us all. The entire time that Jesus was on this earth He did nothing but give. Jesus gave His entire life to serving others. He always took time to sow into other people’s lives. He wasted nothing and gave all.

In the context, 2 Corinthians 9, Paul wants the Corinthian Believers to follow through on their commitment to giving to the needs of the Jerusalem Christians. Paul wanted them to know that their gifts would bring spiritual blessing to the ones they helped. He also wanted them to know that the blessings that would be returned to them were spiritual blessings not financial blessings.

Giving in that sense, money becomes more thant just mere money. It becomes the evidence of the love of God within us to bless the lives of others. The simple reward isn’t a tax break or getting more money in return. It’s simple, we should give because it was what God asked of us.
