A word from PJ

“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.” — Matthew 5:44-45a (NIV)

Life often places us in situations where we encounter people who are mean or hurtful. It could be a co-worker, a neighbor, or even someone in our own family. Our natural response may be to react in anger or defensiveness, but Jesus calls us to something radically different. He instructs us to love our enemies and pray for those who mistreat us.

Why is this so important? First, it aligns our hearts with God’s will. Jesus modeled this when He was on the cross, praying for those who crucified Him. He showed us that love is not merely a response to kindness, but an intentional act of grace even toward those who cause us pain.

Secondly, when we respond with grace, it reflects God’s love to the world. Being kind to those who are kind to us is easy, but it’s in loving those who are mean that we truly mirror Christ’s heart.

Is there someone in your life who has been mean or hurtful? Take a moment today to pray for them, asking God to soften their heart and to give you the grace to love them as He does.

Lord, help me to love others the way You love me, even when it’s difficult. Give me the strength to respond with grace when I’m faced with unkindness. Transform my heart to reflect Your goodness and love, no matter the circumstance. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Love you,

PJ
