It’s Not A Suggestion!
“Let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” – Hebrews 10:25 (NLT)
In today’s fast-paced world, many believers might wonder if attending church services is essential, given the rise of online sermons, podcasts, and devotionals. While these resources are valuable, they can never replace the communal worship and fellowship we find in gathering with other believers. Church attendance is not just a ritual or obligation; it’s a command that aligns us with God’s design for community, fellowship, and spiritual growth.
The Bible encourages us to “not neglect meeting together” for good reason. Our time together strengthens our faith and keeps us connected to a broader body of believers who can support us in our walk with Christ. Worshipping with others helps us stay accountable, receive encouragement, and become more effective in serving God. Moreover, when we come together, we are reminded that the body of Christ is not limited to our individual lives but extends to a family of believers who share in both our joys and burdens.
Regular church attendance also nurtures our spiritual gifts, allowing us to serve and be served. Through worship, teaching, and fellowship, we grow in our faith and become better equipped to share the love of Christ with those around us. When we make church a priority, we make it easier for God to work in our lives and in the lives of others through us.
1. How does gathering with other believers encourage and strengthen your faith?
2. In what ways has church attendance helped you grow closer to God and others?
3. Are there any obstacles keeping you from attending church regularly, and how can you address them?
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of community and fellowship. I pray that You would strengthen my commitment to gathering with other believers and that I would find encouragement and joy in doing so. Help me to overcome any barriers that might keep me from attending church and to embrace the blessings that come from being part of Your body. May my presence in church serve as a light to others and a testimony of my faith in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Love you,
PJ
