We decided today to move him from the vent to a tracheotomy vent ... this will allow him to

1. Not have a tube down his throat and therefore hopefully reducing his stress and breathing rate due to less panicking

2. Ability to talk

3. Ability to eat

4. Is reversible

5. Is mobile if needed

The surgery to do this hasn't been scheduled yet due to the weekend so I'll know more Monday.

Stats are good and kidney numbers are the best they have been in years. Heart is good. He just can't pull the 93% oxygen to pull him off vent. This trach they said is very successful. Doctor was very excited that we decided to do this.

Praying he tolerates the trach and that it enables him to heal, breathe and then have the trach reversed soon!
