A Word from PJ
“The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.””
Mark 12:31 NIV
This is a beautiful command from our Lord. However what if you are at a place in life that you hate yourself for some reason? That reason doesn’t have to be because you did something wrong. Hating oneself is very common in the day we live. People are filled with insecurity, fear, shame, anxiety, being hurt by other people and a multitude of other things that cause people to hate themselves. Self hatred is very real and extremely difficult to get rid of. It can and will haunt you every second of the day if you let it. If left unaddressed it will eventually destroy you and those around you. I wish I could tell you there is a switch that turns it off, but there isn’t one. There are many promises in the Word of God that we can claim and ask God to release the power of those promises in our lives. God is a loving, caring, compassionate and a restoring God. He has given us the ability to live a life that is full of love for others and ourselves.
If you are struggling with self hatred please don’t try to get through it on your own. Get in the Word of God and let God pour His love over you. Also, surround yourself with people that love, encourage and make you feel better about yourself. If you know anyone that deals with self hatred then you must show them the love of God to see them through what is absolutely the darkest time in their life.

Absolute truth. Also, we can ask the Lord to baptize us with his love for ourselves and others. The Holy Spirit will help us with this as well as the word. This is a journey discovering how real and all encompassing his love is. We have to be determined not to stay there in self hatred or self pity but to look up to the one who watches over us. Ps 121 and The Song of Songs, a love story…..actually the whole Bible is a love story!
