Living in the Name of the Lord

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

—Colossians 3:17 (NIV)

Colossians 3:17 is a powerful reminder that our lives as Christians should be centered on glorifying Jesus in everything we do. Whether it’s our daily work, the way we speak, or how we serve others, everything should be done with the awareness that we represent Christ.

To do something “in the name of the Lord Jesus” means to act as His ambassadors, reflecting His character, love, and purpose. It means striving for excellence, not for human praise but as an act of worship to God. When we approach life this way, even the smallest acts like offering a kind word or helping a neighbor carry eternal significance.

Gratitude plays a central role in this verse. Giving thanks to God reminds us of His blessings and faithfulness, even in challenges. A thankful heart shifts our focus from ourselves to God, inspiring us to honor Him in all we do.

1. Examine Your Words: Before speaking, ask yourself if your words honor Christ. Speak truth and encouragement.

2. Dedicate Your Actions: Begin your day by committing all your plans to God, inviting Him to guide and bless your efforts.

3. Cultivate Gratitude: Make it a habit to thank God throughout the day—for opportunities, relationships, and even trials that help you grow.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the privilege of living for You. Help me to do all things in the name of Jesus, reflecting His love and grace. Teach me to live with gratitude, glorifying You in my words, actions, and thoughts. May my life be a witness to Your goodness, pointing others to Your saving grace. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Love You,

PJ
