A Word from PJ
Loving Your Enemies
Scripture:
“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” – Matthew 5:44
Reflection:
Loving our enemies goes against human nature, but it reflects the heart of God. Jesus calls us to a radical kind of love—a love that extends even to those who hurt or oppose us. Matthew 5:44 reminds us that praying for our enemies is a powerful way to show love and align our hearts with God’s.
When we love our enemies, we reflect Christ’s character. On the cross, He prayed for those who crucified Him, saying, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). This love is not about condoning wrong actions but about choosing grace over bitterness.
Praying for our enemies softens our hearts and allows God to work in their lives and ours. It shifts our perspective from seeking revenge to seeking reconciliation and transformation.
Challenge:
Think of someone who has wronged you or whom you struggle to love. Spend time in prayer, asking God to bless them and to work in their heart and yours.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for loving me unconditionally, even when I fall short. Help me to love my enemies and to pray for those who have hurt me. Teach me to reflect Your grace and to trust You with the process of reconciliation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Love you,
PJ
