A Word from PJ

“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Not that kind of prayer! I remember this man that loved to stand and pray in church. He would stand proudly on a Sunday morning and belt out a prayer that at times would make the hair on your neck stand up. I’m telling you, his prayers seemed so very powerful (I didn’t understand most of his words but...). As I got to know the gentleman more over the years and would hear him talk in regular conversations, I noticed that he didn’t talk like he prayed. In fact his tone, words and especially his demeanor was totally opposite as to how he prayed on a Sunday. He was a very arrogant and mean person to people he would deal with on a daily basis. I soon learned the Sunday morning prayer show was just that, a show. The man that prayed so beautifully on Sunday would cuss out the one he prayed for on Sunday. That’s not the type of person God wants us to be. 

So when you pray, do it humbly, honestly, and always truthfully.
