The Blessings of Generosity
Proverbs 11:25 — “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
The world often tells us to look out for ourselves first. We are encouraged to hold tightly to what we have, to protect our resources and guard our time. But Proverbs 11:25 paints a different picture, one where generosity and selflessness lead to blessings and refreshment. This verse reminds us that when we pour into others, we too will be filled. God has designed life in such a way that when we give, He gives back to us, often in ways we least expect.
Generosity isn’t limited to financial giving. It includes our time, talents, love, and compassion. When we take the time to help someone in need, offer a listening ear, or share our skills, we reflect God’s heart. Generosity flows from a heart that trusts God to provide. By choosing to be generous, we are, in essence, saying, “Lord, I believe You are my source and will meet all my needs.”
This doesn’t mean that giving will always be easy. Sometimes, generosity requires sacrifice and an act of faith. But God promises that as we refresh others, we will be refreshed. This might come in the form of joy, peace, or a deeper sense of purpose. Sometimes, God blesses us materially, but more often, He fills our hearts with the satisfaction of knowing that we’re part of His work on earth.
Take a moment to reflect on how you can be generous in your life. Is there someone who needs encouragement? Perhaps a neighbor who could use a helping hand or a friend who needs prayer. Ask God to show you opportunities to refresh others. Trust that as you pour out, He will fill you up.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise that generosity leads to prosperity, not just in material things but in spirit. Help me to have a heart that gives freely, trusting that You will always meet my needs. Show me ways I can bless others today, and help me to find joy in refreshing others as You refresh me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Love you,
PJ
