A Word from PJ
Scripture: “The man said, ‘The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.’” – Genesis 3:12 (NKJV)
From the very beginning, humanity has had a tendency to shift blame. In Genesis 3, after Adam and Eve sinned by eating from the forbidden tree, Adam immediately pointed to Eve and by extension, to God for his disobedience. Eve, in turn, blamed the serpent. This pattern of deflecting responsibility is all too familiar.
Blame shifting is dangerous because it hinders personal growth and damages relationships. When we fail to take responsibility for our actions, we not only distance ourselves from others but also from God. Instead of admitting our mistakes and seeking His grace, we create walls of pride and self defense.
But God calls us to humble repentance. 1 John 1:9 reminds us, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” There is great freedom in owning up to our faults, knowing that God’s mercy is ready to meet us where we are.
Is there an area in your life where you’ve shifted the blame instead of owning your mistakes? Today, ask God for the courage to take responsibility and experience the freedom of His forgiveness.
Lord, help me to take responsibility for my actions and not to blame others. Teach me to walk in humility and to trust in Your grace. Amen.
Love you,
PJ
