The Heart of Christmas
Scripture:
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
— Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)
Devotional:
Christmas is a season that glimmers with lights, laughter, and love. Families gather, gifts are exchanged, and homes are filled with the warm glow of tradition. Yet, at the heart of it all lies a truth far deeper than any holiday decoration or cherished song the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Isaiah’s prophecy reminds us that the child born in Bethlehem was no ordinary child. He was the fulfillment of God’s promise, the light piercing the darkness, and the embodiment of divine love. In that humble manger lay the hope of the world, the Prince of Peace whose reign would bring salvation to all who would believe.
Christmas is not merely a celebration of the past; it is a present reality that beckons us to draw near to Christ. His birth is a reminder that God steps into our brokenness, meeting us in the ordinary moments of life. In Jesus, we find not only forgiveness but also restoration and peace that transcends our understanding.
As we reflect on the meaning of this season, let us pause to worship the One who left the splendor of heaven to dwell among us. Let the gifts we give be a reflection of the greatest gift ever given the love and grace of God. And as we gather around our tables, may we remember the joy that was set before Him as He took on flesh to redeem His people.
Reflection:
In the midst of the festivities, have you made room in your heart for Christ this Christmas? Take a moment to thank God for the gift of His Son and reflect on the peace and hope that Jesus brings to your life.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we stand in awe of the gift You gave us on that holy night in Bethlehem. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to be our Savior and Redeemer. May the joy and peace of Christ fill our hearts and homes this Christmas season. Help us to remember that the heart of Christmas is Your love, and may we share that love with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Love you,
PJ
