Walking in Forgiveness
Scripture:
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:32
Reflection:
Forgiveness is one of the most challenging yet Christlike actions we can take. It requires humility, love, and grace, but it is vital for our spiritual health and relationships. Forgiveness releases us from the chains of bitterness and anger, freeing us to experience God’s peace and joy fully.
Jesus set the ultimate example of forgiveness when, hanging on the cross, He prayed for those who crucified Him, saying, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). His forgiveness extends to us, covering every sin through His sacrifice.
When we struggle to forgive, we can remember that Christ forgave us while we were still sinners. Forgiveness does not mean ignoring the pain or excusing wrongdoing, but it does mean entrusting justice to God. As we forgive, we reflect His love and mercy, and we open our hearts to healing.
Challenge:
Think of someone you need to forgive. Pray for them and ask God to soften your heart toward them. Consider writing a letter or having a conversation with them to take a step toward reconciliation.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for forgiving me completely and unconditionally through Jesus. Help me to forgive others as You have forgiven me. Teach me to release bitterness and to trust You with the process of healing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Love you, PJ
