A Word from PJ
When People Lie to Cause Pain
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me, says the Lord.” – Isaiah 54:17
Few things cut as deeply as a lie spoken against you. It’s one thing to deal with misunderstandings or mistakes, but when someone deliberately spreads falsehoods to hurt you, the sting runs deep. The betrayal feels personal. The injustice feels unbearable. And the temptation to fight back in anger can be overwhelming.
Maybe you’ve been there. Maybe you’re there now. The rumors, the deception, the way people twist your words or question your character it’s painful. But let me remind you of this: Lies may be spoken, but they hold no power over the truth that God has declared about you.
The enemy has always used lies to attack God’s people. He is the “father of lies” (John 8:44), and he works through deception, slander, and false accusations. But no matter what is said about you, God has the final word. He is your defender. He is your vindicator.
Isaiah 54:17 doesn’t promise that weapons won’t be formed against you it promises they won’t prosper. Lies may circulate, but they cannot change who God says you are. False accusations may rise, but they do not alter the truth that God sees in you. People may twist your words, but they cannot twist God’s plans for your life.
Jesus Himself endured false accusations. He was called a liar, a blasphemer, and a fraud. People twisted His words, mocked His mission, and ultimately crucified Him based on lies. Yet, in the end, truth prevailed. He rose in victory, proving that the lies of man can never overthrow the truth of God.
If you’re facing lies today, stand firm in the truth. Don’t waste your energy trying to fight every rumor. Instead, let your integrity speak for itself. Walk in righteousness, trust in God’s justice, and remember that no lie, no accusation, and no attack can derail the plans God has for you.
Reflection:
• Are you carrying the weight of someone’s false words today?
• Have you been trying to fight the battle on your own instead of trusting God to defend you?
• How can you respond with wisdom and grace instead of bitterness and anger?
Prayer:
Father, You see the lies spoken against me, and You know the pain they’ve caused. But I trust that no weapon formed against me will prosper. I refuse to be defined by the words of others I choose to stand on the truth of who You say I am. Help me to walk in integrity, to respond with grace, and to trust that You are my defender. I release the need to fight this battle on my own, knowing that You will make all things right in Your time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Love you,
PJ
